Practical Nursing students must meet academic, clinical, and exit examination standards to successfully complete the program. These standards support readiness for clinical practice and the NCLEX-PN licensure examination.

Academic progress is measured across theory, clinical coursework, and the required Exit Examination.
Students below a 2.0 cumulative GPA may be placed on Academic Warning and then Academic Probation if improvement is not demonstrated.

Students must meet GPA requirements in both theory and clinical coursework.
Successfully pass clinical courses
Clinical courses must be passed with a grade of Pass and may not be repeated more than the maximum attempts allowed by policy.
Complete the required Exit Examination
Students must take the Exit Examination during NUVPN132 Transition to Profession, Leadership and Management.
Meet the required passing score
Students must achieve a minimum passing score of 900 on the HESI Exit Exam or the assigned passing score on another standardized exam used by the school.
Use the available exam attempts
Students are permitted two attempts to achieve the required exit exam passing score.
If the required score is not achieved after two attempts
The student must retake NUVPN132 with the required coursework, remediation, and assessments before progressing to graduation.
